Microcentrifuge PlateFuge™ MicroPlate

Benchmark’s PlateFuge™ is the first “mini size” centrifuge with a spinning rotor for microtiter plates. Centrifuging the plates before PCR ensures that all reagents are at the bottom of the wells for correct concentrations and better yields.

Despite its remarkably small size (23 x 26 cm), the PlateFuge™ includes a uniquely designed rotor (patent pending) that can hold two microtiter plates. The easily accessible rotor chamber contains two plate holders that rest at an angle of 75°. This allows the plates to be inserted with confidence, without tape or caps. Closing the lid of the centrifuge accelerates the rotor and the centrifugal force “tilts” the plates into the horizontal position. Any droplets on the plate walls quickly concentrate on the bottom of the wells.

With a g-force greater than 600 x g, most samples can be centrifuged in less than 20 seconds. To stop a rotation, simply open the lid and the automatic electric brake will gently stop the rotor in about 4 seconds. The plates can then be easily removed from the rotor.
